About our Club
Otumoetai Te Puna Pony Club (OTPC) is a Club within the Bay of Plenty Region, based on its own 10 acre grounds in Teihana Road Te Puna. We hold about 20 ridden rallies a year. In addition, we offer unmounted Horse Management (HM) rallies to support our members with knowledge about caring for their horse and ponies. During the year, we aim to work alongside other local Pony Clubs to allow members to experience a wider range of activities, develop friendships and gain further experience. There is also an opportunity to attend clinics with expert
instructors.
The club camp is held annually, usually over a long weekend during summer. Camp is a combination of formal lessons, fun challenges, hacking out, horse mastership and games.
OTPC own grounds that our members get to use for free at their convenience throughout the year. During the season a full show jumping course, 60x20 piped dressage arena and cross country fences are available. Attached to our grounds in part of the Omokoroa Tauranga cycleway and horse riders are allowed shared access to this between Teihana Road and Lochhead Road.
To ensure the grounds stay in tip top condition members are asked to come along to working bees, these are done in conjunction with dedicated maintenance individuals. Our committee are a friendly group of supportive people from varying backgrounds. We work together to achieve the best outcomes for our members.
Our People
We use quality instructors who are supportive to riders and horses of all levels. Our aim is to help you achieve your own goals whether they be learning to rise to the trot or compete at Pony Club Champs. Our beginner riders get the same super quality instruction that our most competitive riders get.
The pony club is run by a group of volunteers, and its super important that parents help the kids at rallies.
Fees
Junior Membership (under 25) is $290 a year which includes NZPCA and BOPPC levies. An adult responsible membership is required per family that includes an under 18 year old member. The fee for this is $25.

Commuication
OTPC is active across socail media platforms - including Facebook and Instagram. There are also direct commuincation pathways to all members - this is where rally information, events and other equestrian information is made available.

Rallies
PC season starts August/early September, Daylight Savings - Every second Wednesday evening. Outside of Daylight Savings - typically on a weekend (avoiding sports wherepossible).
